Recovery After the All-on-6 Implant Surgery

Tooth decay or injury-related disorders, partial edentulism or loss of all teeth, and some congenital conditions. If you have one or more of these problems, never ignore your condition.

Experts highly recommend you get treatment as soon as possible before your oral and dental health worsens. So, what can you do for healthy teeth? All-on-6 implants are one of the best solutions that can be applied to permanently eliminate the problems we mentioned above.

At the same time, you will have a smooth and dazzling smile, improve your chewing function, and have an aesthetic appearance.

The All on 6 procedure, as the name suggests, involves fixing 6 implants to the upper jawbone or mandible (lower jawbone) and thus integrating them into the gingiva. The volume of your jawbone is measured with an examination inside your mouth. The process is usually completed with 2 sessions, 4-5 months apart, during which a temporary prosthesis is placed on the implants.

Implants adapt best to your gums. Since All-on-6 is a less invasive application, your recovery time is shorter than other methods. If your jawbone is too thin, it is reinforced with a bone graft.

What Should You Pay Attention To After All-on-6 Implant Application?

After the first session of the All on 6 application, you can back to your daily life from where you left off and return to your work. If you are under general anesthesia, it is usually suggested to rest for 1 day. As after other oral and dental procedures, you may experience some tenderness and mild pain in your jaw. Your dentist will prescribe painkillers and antibiotics to prevent a possible infection.

  • You may be asked to use an anti-bacterial mouthwash for a few weeks following the operation. Swelling and bruises in the area usually go away in a few days. It is also very important to follow the diet given to you during this process:
  • During the first 2 weeks, you should only consume liquid and pureed foods. Start with foods such as soup, yogurt, and compote. Remember that your tolerance for heat and cold will be low in the first days.
  • Starting from the 2nd week, you will be able to consume some vegetables and fruits in addition to pasta, rice, and eggs in a 15-day period. Make sure they are soft.
  • After the first month, you can include soft meat and well-cooked vegetables in your menu.
  • When the second month is over, go on your diet without straining your chewing ability too much, do not rush to hard foods. But you don't need to make too many restrictions anymore.

If you follow your dentist's recommendations and take care of your oral and dental care, it is possible to use your All on 6 implants for an average of 20 years.
