Is Bleeding Normal after Having a Dental Implant Procedure?

Is Bleeding Normal after Having a Dental Implant Procedure?

Today, almost everyone has heard of the dental implant procedure. The dental implant treatment, which gives successful results even in patients with missing teeth or even completely edentulous patients, has become popular all over the world in the last 15-20 years. The procedure is a much more advantageous method than removable dentures; it consists of placing artificial tooth roots made of titanium or titanium components in the places of missing teeth, and placing the fixed teeth on them once they are fused to the jaw.

Patients may encounter some complications after getting an implant procedure, which is a surgical operation. One of them is bleeding after implantation. Although this situation worries patients a lot, it is actually quite normal. So, what causes post-implant bleeding? What does this mean?

Bleeding after an implant operation is not something to be afraid of. This situation is controlled as much as possible by a specialist dentist. The main problem is when the bleeding is caused by the patient, not the treatment. To prevent this, you should consider your doctor's recommendations during the healing process.

Here are some things to consider after having implant treatment:

-Keep in mind that the implant procedure is a

surgical operation and it is very normal to have bleeding after the procedure,

-You should not spit or rinse your mouth for the first 24 hours; otherwise the healing process of the wound will be delayed,

-You should not use mouthwash and brush your teeth on the day of the procedure,

-You should avoid smoking and alcohol for the first 24 hours,

-If possible, you should quit smoking completely after having implant treatment,

-For the first 2 days, you should avoid taking a bath with hot water, entering the Turkish bath and sauna,

-You can rinse your mouth with saltwater from the 3rd day on,

-You should brush your teeth regularly and prefer soft-bristled toothbrushes,

-You should not forget that eating soft foods and consuming plenty of fluids for a while after implant treatment minimizes the risk of bleeding,

-Finally, applying a cold compress to the treated area at regular intervals for 48 hours will also help reduce the risk of bleeding or relieve bleeding.

These are just a few of the things that almost all dentists recommend to their patients. For a healthy and successful treatment, keep in mind how important it is to apply to a specialist doctor and then follow the doctor's instructions. If you have experienced bleeding after implant treatment, you can pay attention to these factors. In case of excessive bleeding, do not neglect to inform your doctor as soon as possible.
